Between Two Points
The trail between Virginia City and Sacramento is long, winding and arduous. So it seemed almost inevitable that, in a natural expanse of open land some way into the trail, an enterprising duo would see the need for a waypoint.
So it was that Emma Roth and Roy Goodwin came to found the Bearmoon Livery Stable. The two travellers seizing on a lucrative business opportunity did not realise that they had unwittingly chosen a spot perfect for the foundations of a bustling town. With land fertile enough to dry-farm crops, plenty of land to be claimed by would-be homesteaders and a steady flow of through traffic, what started as a simple place to change horses and rest tired legs has grown into the town we know today.
